Grief is a natural response to losing someone you love and someone who was dear and near to your heart. You may feel a variety of emotions, like sadness or loneliness. And you might experience it for a number of different reasons. Everyone grieves differently. But if you understand your emotions, take care of yourself, and seek support, you can heal. At Victoria Hospice services we know grieving can start before actual death and can last for weeks to months after death. We offer grief and bereavement support to families and loved ones not only while patients are under our care but upto 13 months if needed following a death. We would still be with you standing on your side listening and helping you come out through this tough and challenging time.

Grief reactions may include:

  •  Feeling empty and numb, as if you are in a state of shock
  • Physical responses such as nausea, trouble breathing, crying, confusion, lack of energy, dry mouth, or changes in sleeping and eating patterns
  • Anger—at a situation, a person or in general
  • Guilt about what you did or did not do
  • Withdrawal from family, friends and common activities
  • Difficulty focusing, working or making decisions
  • Questions about faith or spirituality; challenges to the meaning, value and purpose you find in life
